Glenn Hauser logs September 18, 2016

** ARGENTINA. Re: ``15344v, Sat Sept 17 circa 2220, no signal from R. Nacional. Usually can at least detect an off-channel carrier; nor later circa 0130 UT Sun Sept 18 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)``

FYI: ARGENTINA translate by wb.: Pause of Foreign language programmes on RAE Buenos Aires from September 16 til incl. October 5. Only music programme will be distributed on all frequencies and on livestream internet. On Sept 15 at 1920 UT, RAE usual Italian service on 15345.118 kHz (Wolfgang Büschel, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Comienza una nueva etapa en la historia de RAE, que se convertirá de RAE- RADIODIFUSION ARGENTINA AL EXTERIOR a RAE ARGENTINA AL MUNDO, actualizando el concepto de nuestra señal internacional.
(Arnaldo Slaen, Sept 18, Hard-Core-DX mailing list via DXLD)

Translated version starts [sic]:

Rae RADIODIFUSION ARGENTINA ABROAD becomes Rae ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

Begins a new stage in the history of RAE, which will become RADIODIFUSION of Rae RAE ARGENTINA ABROAD ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD, updating the concept of our international signal.

Among the new features is the decision to maintain the presence shortwave (frequency 15345 and 11710 from the transmitting plant of General Pacheco), where today we have some technical restrictions in the modulation stage but with the challenge of solving and increase our presence shortwave.

We continue transmitting in 8 languages, now with a homogeneous programming, which will be consistency in content with the specific contribution of each language with its peculiarities. The new programming will be broadcast from Monday to Monday . . .``

** CHINA. 9500, Sept 18 at 1305, S7-S9 signal with nice Chinese instrumental classical music, i.e. the Sunday-evening serious music hour from CNR1. Per Aoki this frequency is legitimate, 0900-1805, 100 kW, 165 degrees from Shijiazhuang 723 site at 38-04N/114-28E.

Same on 7470, which is illegitimate, a jammer atop some talk, Sept 18 at 1309, which is RFA in Tibetan via MONGOLIA at 11-13 (plus VOA Cantonese via Thailand at 13-14). How fortunate CNR1 and its listeners are! To have countless additional transmissions employed to block evil broadcasts from abroad capable of turning the repressed Chinese giga-citizenry against the dictatorial Communist regime (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KURDISTAN [non]. 11600, Sept 18 at 1416, presumed Kurdish talk at S8 to S9+10. Ivo Ivanov says the 13-17 UT segment of Denge Kurdistanye is now due east from Secretbrod site = Kostinbrod, BULGARIA, a transmitter which does not harmonicize on 23200. I prefer the mostly-music hour, before or after this? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NETHERLANDS [non]. 7780, Sunday Sept 18 at 0600, very poor WRMI signal toward Europe but registering S9 with double preamp on the R75, can barely hear PCJ Radio International opening, and at 0601 the classic Radio Nederland carillon interval signal, for the third two-hour special `From the Archives of Radio Netherlands`, this episode to present drama. The repeat for North America is scheduled UT Monday Sept 19 at 0100-0300 on 7570, which was occupied 24 hours earlier by World Music instead of Brother Scare (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 930, Sept 18 at 1252, WKY OKC`s undominatable (indominable?) banda music is suffering IADs every few seconds (intermittent audio dropouts). No one aware at station? No one at station? (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOLOMON ISLANDS. 5020, Sept 18 after 1300, a JBA carrier from SIBC, running late. Ron Howard, California, was still hearing it at 1415, ``must be headed for a 24-hour broadcast``, and Jim Young still had it at 1432 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 11810, Sept 18 at 1418, Brother HyStairical talking about his satellite channels, S6 to S9, not // 11825 WRMI, which is steady S9, but more punch to the 11810 modulation. Then I time the delay: 11810 is 65 seconds behind 11825 (& better 15440 WRMI). Ivo Ivanov reports: ``schedule of SPL Secretbrod via old, over 60 years Soviet transmitter 100 kW: Brother HySTAIRical: 1300-1655 on 11810 SCB 100 kW / 126 deg to N/ME English + 2nd harmonic 23620``, i.e. BULGARIA (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** UGANDA [non]. 15240, Sunday Sept 18 at 1618, VG signal presumed in lo-fi Luganda talk, R. Munansi via WWRB. Some sporadic E short-skip must be boosting this often JBA signal; 28 MHz DXmap shows a few paths open across the USA, and no doubt more of them down on 15 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1480, Sept 18 at 1239 UT, South Asian songs, so KBXD Dallas is back on the air this morning, making 160/minute SAH (= two and two thirds Hz) with talker KQAM Wichita KS, and more or less separable from it by mutual nulling (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1540, Sunday Sept 18 at 1244 UT, guy talking about Yahweh, sure sounds like defunct Elder Jacob O Meyer. One hardly needs WMLK. Reminds me of this log last year as in DXLD 15-44 (on the first day of standard time accounting for the one-hour difference in today`s log):

``1540, Nov 1 at 1331 UT, Elder Jacob O Meyer is speaking on
`the Sacred Name Telecast [sic]`, also on radio and has own ``SW radio
station here at Bethel, Pennsylvania``. EJOM is sounding quite
vivacious, considering he is dead since 2010.

This loops NE/SW and is surely KXEL Waterloo IA, still in on skywave
half a sesquihour after sunrise here. Yes, on the SNB radio log at:

Which however is amusingly outdated, a page from their magazine of two
years ago, and it was outdated even then. Of only five US domestic
stations, KXEL`s time shown as Sunday 11:30-12:00 pm = ambiguously
meaning morning instead of night?``

Has that info been updated now, 10.5 months later? Of course not! Still dated 35 months ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** YEMEN [non]. 11860, Sept 18 at 1350, Republic of Yemen Radio at S9+10 level with drumming and exhortations, still good at 1424 with military commands yelled, triumphal music; presumably via SAUDI ARABIA (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
