Glenn Hauser logs October 17-18-19, 2016

** BRAZIL. 9819.68, Oct 17 at 0025, very poor in Portuguese, R. Nove de Julho, back up closer to nominal 9820. It had been even below 9819, as e.g. Carlos Gonçalves, Portugal reported 9818.9 on September 23. Another check, Oct 17 at 2340, gets 9819.665 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. 7850, Oct 19 at 0548, CHU is dead air! No pips, no nothing but carrier still on. Same on 3330, and 14670 inaudible. At 1412, 14670 is also silent but transmitting. Ditto as late as 2100 when 7850 is also audible but dead. Time standing still? What`s wrong? Nothing about an outage at
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1848, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000, Oct 18 at 0538, RHC English is S9+20 but just barely modulated; // 6165 is merely undermodulated, while 5040 is OK with music (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MADAGASCAR. 17640, Oct 17 at 1808, no signal again from MWV (yet Spain is S9+20 on 17855). Off again.

9480, Oct 18 at 0443, JBA carrier, presumably the other MWV-African English, which is normally much better than that.

17640, Oct 18 at 1850, irregular African Pathways Radio is back again about a ``hero of faith`` in Zambia; 1852 African choral music, ID with sked talkover only for the 04 and 18 UT broadcasts, 1853 open carrier, 1854* off. (So don`t expect MWV to be on the last 6 minutes of any hour.) I proceed to check further languages scheduled:

11945, Oct 18 at 1925, very poor talk, presumably Arabic from MWV.

13710, Oct 18 at 2010, poor but definitely in Arabic, so MWV.

11615, Oct 18 at 2100, good signal with KNLS IS and Chinese sign-on including website clearly enunciated in English, www.smzg.org but really MWV, and on to praise music in --- English!

11770, Oct 18 at 2200, good signal in Arabic from MWV, which is really called Radio Feda, but I have yet to copy. ACI until 2203* from ANGUILLA 11775 running overtime.

9455, Oct 18 after 2200, JBA carrier, scheduled Chinese from MWV, but no comparison to previous hour on 11615 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1848, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 780, Oct 17 at 1807 UT and 1945 chex, KSPI Stillwater again with rock music from ``Pete 94-3`` instead of sports talk (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WORLD OF RADIO 1848, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15580, Oct 18 around 2030, VOA with `African Beat` music hour, good signal, better than it has been, so could it be back to Greenville site instead of BOTSWANA scheduled 1700-2200? No, there is too much fading. 2100 to News Update on hour from VOA One, no break in transmission. However, from B-16, the last hour 21-22 is supposed to revert to Greenville, even better for us in mid-America (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1848, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1847 monitoring: confirmed Mon Oct 17 at 2330 on WBCQ, 9330.092v-CUSB, poor. Also confirmed Tue Oct 18 at 2130 on WRMI 15770, fair. Also confirmed Tue Oct 18 at 2330 on WBCQ, 9330.082v-CUSB. Also confirmed Wed Oct 19 at 1326 amid the 1315.5 broadcast, good but with pulse jamming; tnx a lot, Arnie! Also confirmed Wed Oct 19 at 2100 on WBCQ 7490. Also confirmed Wed Oct 19 after 2330 on WBCQ, 9330+v-CUSB.

** U S A [and non]. 9955, Oct 18 at 2202, WRMI with `Radio Northern Ireland` show, but vs heavy jamming. This hour had been free from jamming, but the prepeat of `Radio Libertad` at 21-22 put it at risk. Yes, Oct 19 at 2116 check, wall of noise jamming is running against 9955, as the DentroCuban Jamming Command has now attacked it (I assume, can`t hear WRMI itself now). Since `Radio Libertad` also airs at its original hour of 23-24, we can hardly expect DCJC to turn off the jamming for an hour in between, thus collaterally damaging the string of 22-23 shows: also including `Hobart Radio International`, `Wavescan`, `Frecuencia al Día`, `La Rosa de Tokio`, `Media Network Plus` on weekdays alone (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9275, Mon Oct 17 at 1810 check, no signal from WMLK (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17775, Oct 18 at 1926, KVOH extended again in Spanish, splattered upon by the BS from 17765 WHRI out to 17735/17795 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Pacific JBA MW carrier search, Oct 19, UT:
At 1202, 612-WSW, 702-WSW
At 1203, 738-SW, 828-WSW [but no 774!]
At 1204, 1098-W (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
